Achievements

Head, Department of Agricultural Engineering, KNUST [October 2001 – September 2003]

Provided academic leadership resulting in the revision of the BSc programme and also the establishment of the MSc/MPhil/PhD programmes at the time of restructuring of KNUST into the Collegiate System. These have contributed immensely to the research output of the department and general staff promotions since 2004.

Rector, Wa Polytechnic, Wa, Ghana (July 2005 to September 2009)

Provided leadership at Wa Polytechnic as Principal/ Rector of the institution for a little over 4 years, as part of the higher education reforms of the Government of Ghana, when I took a sabbatical and leave of absence from KNUST. This is a pioneering job of establishing the institution and putting in place structures that will enable it to function. Key tasks performed in line with the strategic plan of the new institution included providing leadership in training, research and innovation, human resource development, physical infrastructure development, ICT expansion and use, financial resource mobilization and management. Attracted about US $ 1 million from the World Bank-funded Teaching and Learning Innovation Fund (TALIF) of the Government of Ghana, which was managed by the National Council for Tertiary Education.

Founding Dean, International Programmes Office, KNUST [February 2004 – June 2005]

As part of restructuring KNUST into the collegiate system, I was appointed as the founding Head and subsequently Dean of the International Programmes Office to coordinate all national and international collaborations with KNUST. I wrote the proposal for the establishment of the office, including the structure of its administrative set-up.

Supervision/Co-Supervision of Advanced Degree Research [October 2004 to date]

Successfully graduated 10 PhD students and 10 MSc/MPhil students from Ghana, Benin, Togo, Nigeria, Niger and The Gambia.
