Profile
I, Joseph Aveyire is born to a farming family of seven in Navrongo in 1957. I was taken away at the age of 4 by the uncle (jnr. Brother of father) in 1961 to Accra where I was adopted by a Dane (Lars Paul Skensved), who provided for me all that was necessary. I had the opportunity to attend school early, but I found schooling not interesting. After persuasions and persistent by the Lars, I finally resolved to continue schooling in 1967. Lars left for is country, but te seed e sowed in me had taken roots and noting could stop me from schooling. I entered Saint Peter’s Secondary School in 1972 and got admission into KNUST in 1979 to read agricultural engineering in 1979.
Many decisions and circumstances influenced my path. My first choice was Building Technology. I had no knowledge about this course, but my decision was based on the name. I also applied to be a pilot at Ghana Airways, but I was denied during the interview by bias questions because none of relative ever worked there. I really loved agricultural engineering after I understood the profession. I was interested in machinery, so I was happy when I was awarded a scholarship for my postgraduate degree in the field Mechanical Engineering Design in RWTH (Aachen, Germany)
