Achievements
Technology Development
- Developed prossing technology for refining Kibi bauxite
- Developed various flow-sheets for treating/upgrading low-grade manganese ores from the Nsuta manganese deposits
- Proposed a technology for processing bauxite tailings materials from the Awaso Bauxite mine into alum (aluminium sulphate) for the commercial production of potable water from the Owabi and Weija reservoirs.
- Working with the Ben Gurion the Ben Gurion University of the Negev, Zukerberg Institute for Water Research (Israel) to develop hybrid adsorption/membrane technology for the removal of nitrates and fluoride from contaminated water.
- Working with Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Institute for Advanced Membrane Technology (IAMT), to develop water treatment systems using membrane or hybrid adsorbent/membrane technology for removal of contaminants, including uranium from drinking water from boreholes
As Provost
- Undertaken staff development to improve staff situation at the College of Engineering
- Improved infrastructure at the College of Engineering; laboratories of mechanical engineering, oversaw the redesign and start of construction of the "Petroleum Block", improved water suply system by providing boreholes,
- Establishment of the Energy Centre (now The Brew-Hammond Energy Centre)
- Supported by the World Bank, started discussions with MEST leading to the establishment of Ghana's Science, Technology and Innovation Policy and Implementation documents.
