Profile
Dr. Perseverance Dzikunu is a Lecturer in the Department of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). He holds a PhD in Materials Engineering from KNUST, with doctoral research focused on waste valorization and graphene oxide synthesis for electrochemical energy storage applications.
His research interests include supercapacitors and battery materials, electrochemical sensors, waste-derived carbon materials, membrane and polymer composites, and advanced materials characterization. He has published widely in reputable international journals covering energy storage, environmental remediation, and materials processing.
Dr. Dzikunu teaches both undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including Phase Equilibria, Materials and Metallurgical Characterization Laboratories, and core materials engineering practicals across KNUST campuses. He has supervised several undergraduate and postgraduate research projects in energy materials, composites, corrosion studies, and laboratory equipment design.
As part of his doctoral training, he undertook a PhD exchange at Aalto University, Finland, where he conducted advanced microstructural and nanomechanical characterization using EBSD and nanoindentation. His research has attracted competitive funding from KNUST, Aalto University, and the African Centre of Excellence.
