Profile

Prof. Naail Mohammed Kamil is the immediate past Head of Department, for the Department of Human Resource & Organisational Development, School of Business, since January 2022. He is a well-motivated academic professional with intense passion for seeking and sharing knowledge, through edge cutting research and teaching. He is a renowned scholar with his outstanding contributions in Islamic Management and Islamic Banking & Finance. He holds a PhD in Business Administration (Comparative Study in Organisational Behaviour – Conventional and Islamic) from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (2012), MBA (Islamic Banking & Finance) from IIUM, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (2009), a BSc in Geological Engineering from the then KNUST – School of Mines, currently the University of Mines and Technology (2006), Ghana and an LLB (Bachelor of Laws) from the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Ghana (2024). He has a firm background in Islamic Theology from Al-Azhariyya School, and a certified Hafiz (memorizer) of Al-Qur’an with Distinction, certified by the Al-Muntada Al-Islami in London, UK. He teaches courses both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in areas including Organizational Behavior, Organizational Development, Comparative Business Ethics, Human Resource Management, General Management, Cross Cultural Management, Operations Management, Decision Science, Quantitative Decision Making, Research Methods, Advanced Quantitative and Qualitative Research, among others.

Prof. Naail has authored publications on the comparative study of Management particularly the Islamic Perspective on Ethics, Spirituality and Social Responsibility. Presented research papers at the local and international platforms and conferences in Europe, Asia, Middle East and the Americas, and has attended and presented numerous research papers in the Academy of Human Resource Development (AHRD) at international conferences.  Prof. Naail was a co-researcher of the prestigious Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS) awarded by the Malaysian Ministry of Education. He is a member of the International Association of Islamic Economics and Finance, and an executive member of the World Academy of Islamic Management (WAIM). 

He is able to supervise PhD, MBA and degree students in three (3) languages; English, Arabic and Bahasa Melayu (Malaysian language). He has successfully graduated a number of PhDs, MBAs and more than 100s of research students. He has served as an Assistant Professor at the Kulliyyah (Faculty) of Economics and Management Sciences, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) where he was the Principal (Chief Executive) of a Residential College, the Mahallah Ruqayyah (2013-2014). He also served as the Head for Global Leadership Research Unit at SEGi University in Malaysia. He has also taught in other UK Universities including the MBA program of the Anglia Ruskin in UK, Sunderland University and Abertey University, both in UK. Prof. Naail is also a professional certified trainer by the Malaysia Ministry of Human Resource and a consultant (certificate no. TTT19572). Among others, he has offered consultancy and professional training services on Excellence in Leadership, Management & Evaluation to some managers of Kuwaiti National Petroleum Company at Singapore, ANGLOGOLD Ashanti Iduapriem Mine, Ghana Revenue Authority, among others.

Presently, Prof. Naail is the College Coordinator of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CoHSS) for Short Courses and Programs Unit, currently known as the Centre for Capacity Building and Innovation (CCBI) under the office of the Vice Chancellor, KNUST. He is attached to the Department of Human Resource and Organisational Development (HROD), KNUST – School of Business, Kumasi, and was the Consultant Vice President of the Lakeside University College, Accra (Fomerly, Madina Institute of Science and Technology, (MIST), Lakeside Estate, Accra). He is the Board Chairman of Al-Azhariyya SHS in Kumasi. He serves as Imam & Khatib of "Masaajid" (Mosques) in the nation and a youth activist in Ghana. He is frequent on weekly basis, on some TV and FM stations such as Metro TV, MaxTV, GBC, Alpha Radio, Haske Radio, Marhaba FB, Zuria FM among others, to discuss issues on religious, social and national development. He is fluent in seven (7) languages including English, Arabic, Bahasa Melayu, Bahasa Indonesia, Hausa, Asante and a bit of French.
