Mr. Paul Opuni Dapaah

Assistant Lecturer

Research Areas/Interests

Profile

Paul Opuni Dapaah is a researcher and lecturer working on one of the defining questions of the modern workplace: what happens to the quality of work when organisations go digital? He is with the Department of Human Resource and Organisational Development at the KNUST School of Business, where he combines research on the future of work with about a decade of teaching, mentoring, and organisational consultancy.

Research Agenda

Paul’s research centres on how digital transformation is reshaping work and what it means for the people who do it. While much of the conversation around digitalisation focuses on efficiency and firm performance, his work places workers and the quality of their work at the centre. It brings an emerging-economy perspective to a debate that has largely been shaped by research from advanced economies.

Beyond digital transformation, Paul’s research explores how organisations can be both responsible and high-performing. His work on sustainability and corporate social responsibility examines how firms in emerging economies can turn environmental and social commitments into innovation, and how leaders can inspire the sustainable behaviours that make this possible. Where sustainability is often treated as a matter of corporate strategy, his work highlights the leaders and employees who make it happen.

His interest in people at work also extends to what motivates employees to give more than their jobs formally require. Across leadership, industrial relations, labour economics, and corporate social responsibility, his research is driven by a single question: how can organisations succeed while creating good work for the people in them?

Teaching & Mentorship

Paul’s connection to the KNUST School of Business spans more than a decade. He progressed from Teaching Assistant (2013) and Graduate Assistant to part-time lecturer (2019) and full-time faculty member (2022). He teaches at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels across organisational development, change management, knowledge management, labour economics, corporate governance, CSR and ethics, and employment relations and labour law. He has supervised the theses of several Business Administration students. His teaching mirrors his research, connecting how organisations change with what that change means for the people who work in them.

Professional Practice

Paul applies his expertise beyond the university through training and consultancy in organisational assessment, strategic planning, change management, team building, and counselling. This practitioner work keeps his research grounded in the real challenges organisations face.
