Rev. Dr. William Obeng-Denteh is a Pure Mathematician (Topologist) and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics who earned his BSc (Mathematics), MSc (Mathematics) and PhD (Pure Mathematics) Degrees from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana. He obtained a Diploma in Theology from the then Christian Service College, now Christian Service University College, Kumasi, Ghana. He had his Teachers’ Certificate ‘A’ from Offinso Training College and attended Prempeh College, Kumasi. He is also a Reverend Minister in the Methodist Church Ghana. His inclination is towards Counselling, teaching and preaching the Word of God to manifest the Salvation message.
As a Pure Mathematician, his research interests are in: topology , theory of Differential and Integral Equations and Mathematics education. His current works are in point-set Topology, Topological Dynamical Systems, Algebraic Topology and Theory of Differential Equations. He teaches Mathematics in the Department of Mathematics and Institute of Distance Learning, KNUST. He has the passion for teaching students to really understand and appreciate the essence of mathematics in the pure and real facets of the course. He has a number of publications in refereed journals. He has done lots of Conference and Workshop presentations of papers and posters. His purpose is to make pure mathematics accessible and appreciable to students and researchers.
He offers counselling and motivates students to excel in their various areas of studies as well as their relationship with their Creator. He is the Patron of College of Science Christian Council; GHAMSU, KNUST Local and the University Choir.
Rev. Dr. Obeng-Denteh is the Managing Editor of the Journal of Mathematical Acumen and Research. He is the Ashanti Regional Chairman of Ghana Mathematics Society (GMS), a member of American Mathematical Society (AMS), Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) among others. At National Institute for Mathematical Sciences (NIMS), he is the Coordinator of outreach programmes. He was the Head of the Department of Mathematics and during his tenure the Mathematics Department won the KNUST Departmental ranking as the Best Department in 2018. He acquired piano skills from the Klavar Music School in Kumasi some years ago and thus plays the piano as his hobby as well as singing.
