Very Rev. Prof. William Obeng-Denteh, CMath FIMA, is a Professor of Mathematics and the Head of the Department of Mathematics at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). He holds BSc, MSc, and PhD degrees in Pure Mathematics from KNUST and a Diploma in Theology from Christian Service University. A Chartered Mathematician and Fellow of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications (UK), he is a leading researcher in Topology, Algebraic Topology, and Mathematics Education. His contributions to mathematics and education earned him the prestigious GSFN Research Global Chair in 2024.
As an ordained minister of the Methodist Church Ghana, Prof. Obeng-Denteh serves as the Director of the Tertiary Education Directorate, Journal Secretary of the Kumasi Diocesan Synod, and Patron of GHAMSU and the University Choir at KNUST. Passionate about teaching, research, and mentoring, he has supervised numerous PhD, MPhil, and MSc theses and has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals. He has played a key role in curriculum development under NaCCA, co-authoring the SHS Additional Mathematics teacher's manual.
A dedicated academic leader, he serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Mathematical Acumen and Research and is an active member of professional bodies such as GSA, AMS, and SIAM. He has also served as an external examiner and reviewer for academic institutions and journals. In his leisure time, he enjoys playing the piano.
