Profile

Kwabena Afriyie Poku is a lecturer in the Department of Painting and Sculpture, Faculty of Art at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, where he handles Human Anatomical Drawing, Digital Imaging, Figure and General Drawing, Experimental Painting and Graphic Communication. His research interests focus on the human body and movement, multimedia/digital art exploration and performance. He has served as department and faculty Examinations Officer and he currently serves as the Assistant Examinations Officer for the College of Art and Built Environment.                                 

Poku worked as a teacher at Tema International School (TIS) from 2004 to 2011. He is certified to teach and examine candidates at the International General Certificate of Secondary Examination (IGCSE) and International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) levels. Whilst at TIS, his work facilitated the development of healthy personal responses among students by using Art and Design to stimulate their sensitivity and imaginative strengths.

Having had the opportunity to explore Martial Arts and Fine Art extensively, Kwabena Afriyie Poku’s work expresses his interest in human corporal locomotion as a vital energy resource for existence, expression and growth. These experiences, give rise to innovative ways to teaching human expressions bodily.
