Achievements

  1. Nation Building
  • Teamed up with the International Reconstructive Plastic Surgery(Ghana) Project, a Scottish NGO (now called ReSurge Africa) to establish the first ever Burns Intensive Care Unit (BICU) in Ghana at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Kumasi

 

  • Co-founded the Global Evangelical Mission Hospital, Apromase, Ashanti Region. Grant was received from the American Leprosy Missions, USA

 

  • Co-founded the Charis Missions International which is in the process of establishing a University College (Charis College of Health Sciences) at Sogakope, Volta Region

 

  1. Improved Health and Human Resource
  • Reconstructive Plastic Surgery practice has brought hope and relief to many such as those afflicted with huge breast anomalies and cancers, several unfortunate children born with severe birth defects who had no hope of life, severely burned patients, severely injured patients as a result of road traffic accidents, etc.

 

  • Instrumental in offering surgical outreach support to cleft patients, and Buruli ulcer endemic districts and countries.

 

  • Active surgical outreach work continues to different parts of the country bringing relief to many who otherwise will not have any form of reconstructive surgery. I have thus, continually brought “health to the doorsteps” of these less fortunate people free of charge.

 

  1. Teaching, Training and Capacity Building
  • As a pioneer Reconstructive Plastic Surgeon in Ghana, in the KNUST and KATH, over 27 years taught and trained countless undergraduate and postgraduate students in all aspects of General, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery.

 

  • Trained personnel in the treatment of Buruli ulcer in Ghana, under the auspices of the World Health Organization.

 

  1. Global and National Conferences, Meetings and Seminars
  • Speaker, keynote speaker and member at over 50 Conferences (national and international) where issues of national and global concern were critically discussed and policies formulated to improve upon the health, social and general wellbeing of the global population.

 

  1. Research Collaborations and Peer Reviewed Papers
  • Collaborated with researchers from various backgrounds to identify both social and health problems that plague the globe (more especially Africa), and have come up with practical and problem specific recommendations, most of which have been adhered to and is producing excellent results. Over 100 research articles published.

 

  1. Fellowships and Honours
  • Received a number of prestigious honours and fellowships from both local and international organizations including the Polish College of Surgeons, International College of Surgeons, West African College of Surgeons, Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons and Association for Academic Surgeons.

 

  • Visiting Consultant Plastic Surgeon and Professor/Senior Lecturer to other International institutions.
