Achievements
- Visioned, developed, secured approval, and mounted the MPhil Electrical Power Systems Engineering programme in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering to (i) address the poor staffing situation of Electrical and Electronic Engineering programmes across the country and (ii) increase the Department’s research output. Three out of the eight full-time faculty of the Department are products of the programme. Additionally, all three persons that are currently being considered for appointment into the Department are also products of the programme. Others are teaching in various Technical Universities. The research output of the Department has also shot up considerably.
- Led the introduction of the MPhil Electrical Power Systems Engineering programme as a fully online programme on the Institute of Distance Learning platform, the first in the College of Engineering. This has afforded many practicing electrical engineers the opportunity to pursue the programme.
- Led the establishment of a modern industrial automation laboratory for the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. The laboratory is currently heavily utilized by students of the BSc. Electrical and Electronic Engineering, BSc. Mechanical Engineering, and BSc. Industrial Engineering programmes.
- Established a modern electronics laboratory for the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. The laboratory which is used by all students in the College of Engineering is the most subscribed laboratory in the College.
- Worked with a team to establish a Sustainable Energy Service Unit at KNUST to perform energy audits and train energy auditors.
- Spearheaded the development of an objective criteria for assessment of teaching, for the promotion of Senior Members (Academic). The criteria have now replaced the subjective criteria that had long been used.
- Led a team to develop a simplified and more appropriate instrument for students assessment of teaching. The instrument which has been implemented has addressed the unique requirement of the School of Medicine and Dentistry, which hitherto remained unaddressed.
- First person to graduate with PhD Electrical Engineering from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, KNUST.
- First Professor of Electrical Engineering in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, KNUST.
