Camynta Baezie obtained his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in 2000 and Masters degree in 1995 in Transportation Engineering and Operations from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. He also holds a BSc degree with Honours in 1992 from University of Science and Technology, now Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi.
He is a Lecturer at the Department of Planning at the College of Art and Built Environment, KNUST an Infrastructure and Management Consultant. He is the immediate past Executive Chairman of State Enterprises Commission, a body mandated by law to supervise all state-owned enterprises. He served as a member of the Governing Council of Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) between 2014 and 2017 during which time he also served as the Chairman of the GIMPA Audit Review Implementation Committee (ARIC) now Audit Committee. Camynta Baezie served as a member of the National Media Commission and the immediate past General Secretary of Ghana Association of Writers. He is the author of the novel, The African Agenda and the self-help book, Licence to Print Money.
Before his appointment as the Executive Chairman, Camynta Baezie was the Infrastructure Development Expert on the Task Force for President’s Priority Projects. He is also the Director of Baezie Consulting Limited that provides consultancy services in the field of management, leadership, transportation infrastructure and project funding.
He has over twenty years of experience in infrastructure, highway schemes, railway schemes, traffic engineering and management, public transport management, transport planning and transportation research, from projects in the Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, UAE, Saudi Arabia, United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, Poland, Croatia and Ghana.
He has worked as a Consultant/Advisor to Municipalities and Government Ministries in the UK, UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman on highway scheme design, railways scheme designs, transportation planning, road traffic safety, policy and strategic business planning.
Project manager for a wide range of UK projects including transport planning, highway feasibility studies, public transport schemes and highway scheme assessments. Particular expertise in the analysis and assessment of major road schemes to UK Department for Transport criteria. Undertook the studies that led to the construction of UK’s first toll motorway – the M6 Toll in Birmingham.
Undertook highway scheme assessments and revenue forecasts for toll roads in Poland, Croatia and the Republic of Ireland. In the Middle East, he has undertaken projects in the UAE including the Dubai railway network, Oman, Saudi Arabia and in Bahrain where he was responsible for developing a strategic transport model as part of the Strategic Roads Master Plan Study and later the Project Manager for the development of the Integrated Transport Strategy with emphasis on public transport.
Served as a Transport Engineer for the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, representing the Assembly at the Kumasi Roads Rehabilitation Committee and the Inter-Ministerial Transport Committee and later became the Personal Advisor to the then Minister of Roads.
His key areas of expertise are: Management Consulting, Corporate Governance, Infrastructure Planning, Transportation Planning (with Transport and Traffic Modelling expertise), Traffic Engineering, Highway Scheme Design and Assessment, Railway Scheme Design and Assessment, Public Transport Operations and Management, and Research.
