Auto/Biography

Michael is an Associate Professor in the Department of Planning, KNUST, Kumasi, Ghana and a member of the Ghana Institute of Planners (GIP). He has over ten (10) years' experience in teaching and research. Michael Poku-Boansi has been involved with others in providing consultancy services in socio-economic evaluation, transport feasibility studies, poverty reduction, involuntary resettlement and livelihood re-establishment. Michael's research interest are in the areas of transportation, housing, land use and urban planning, urban management and urban studies. He has over 30 peer reviewed journal articles, book chapters and conference papers to his credit. Michael is a reviewer for several reputable journals such as Habitat International, Cities and GeoJournal. Michael is an Alumnus of the Rockefeller Foundation Professional Fellowship and a Commonwealth Academic Fellow. Michael is a team player and has the ability to clearly identify a research problem and conduct robust investigations to generate results that are theoretically sound and highly relevant for policy makers and practitioners. Michael has an excellent interpersonal skills and gets on very well with his peers and colleagues. He has consulted for corporate institutions such as Newmont Ghana Gold Limited, AngloGold Ashanti, Oxfam Ghana, Millennium Development Authority, German Technical Cooperation, Ministry of Roads and Highways, among others
