Research Areas/Interests
Dr. Daniel Agbetiameh is a plant pathologist and agricultural scientist with extensive experience in plant health, food safety, and mycotoxin research in tropical cropping systems. He is affiliated with the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, Ghana. His research focuses on fungal diseases of tropical crops, plant health diagnostics, and strategies for mitigating mycotoxin contamination in food and feed systems. He has been actively involved in several international collaborative projects addressing food safety, agricultural sustainability, and value chain development in Africa. Notably, he spearheaded the development of two aflatoxin biocontrol products for Ghana, the first of their kind in Africa. His work has significantly advanced the adoption of biological control strategies among smallholder farmers in Ghana. He has published in reputable international journals and supervised several undergraduate and postgraduate research projects in plant pathology. He is actively engaged in capacity building and knowledge transfer for farmers and other agricultural value chain actors, mentoring young scientists, and fostering international research collaborations. His contributions continue to shape policy and practice in food safety and agricultural biotechnology. At this symposium, he will share insights from his research on aflatoxin biocontrol and food safety in tropical agricultural systems.
