Prof Boateng Kyereh is a professor and natural resources management expert who holds a PhD in forest ecology from the University of Aberdeen, UK. He has been involved in many research and development projects implemented in collaboration with national and international research institutions to promote sustainable natural resource management and its associated livelihoods. Key among them are;

- Soil fertility innovations for improving sustainable cereal production in different agro-ecological zones
- Access and exclusion along the charcoal commodity chain
- Collaborative forest management
- Wildfire management in forest landscapes
- Silviculture and economics of improved natural forest management
- Investment analysis and enterprise development of the timber industry
- Development of globally significant biodiversity area (GSBAs) management plans
- Chainsaw milling and lumber trade in West Africa
- Alternatives for illegal chainsaw milling for Ghana and Guyana through multi-stakeholder dialogue
- Preparation of REDD+ Pilot Schemes in off-reserve forests and agroforestry areas.
Prof Kyereh’s research work spans a period of over 28 years and covers a wide array of thematic areas in resource management. He provides scientific inputs into policy debates on critical issues in natural resource management and tries to bridge the gap between academia and civil society. He also serves society by contributing to capacity building of stakeholders at both formal and non-formal levels for improved decision making in natural resource governance and management in Ghana. He achieves this by effectively playing his role as an associate professor in the Department of Silviculture and Forest Management, KNUST, Kumasi. In addition, he works with farmers and facilitates information dissemination programmes for improved decision-making organised by Tropenbos Ghana and on other platforms.
