Prof. Daniel Ampofo Ohene-Adu is an Associate Professor in Communication Design in the Department of Communication Design at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana. He has almost 40 years of teaching experience in the Department during which time he has taught many courses and trained many practitioners in the Graphic Design industry.
He has held various administrative positions in the Faculty of Art at KNUST. For six years, he was the Dean of the Faculty of Art, one year as the Vice Dean, and four years as the Head of the Department of Communication Design. He holds a BA (Art) degree, a Postgraduate Diploma in Art Education and MA (Art Education), all from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, Ghana.
He has spent some time in the UK and South Africa to acquire and broaden his knowledge. He has, for many years, been an External Examiner to the University of Education, Winneba, and the Takoradi Polytechnic, now the Takoradi Technical University.He has also been an External Assessor to some Universities, both home and abroad.
His research interests are varied, including design education, but specifically on the analysis and impact of visual communication, signs and symbols, in the implementation of safety measures.As part of his research projects, he designed a Signage system for the KNUST which was adopted by the University, and is still in use on the campus today.
