Ing. Dr. Stephen Oppong Kwakye is a lecturer at the Department of Environmental Science, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana. He holds a B.Sc. Civil Engineering degree from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, M.Sc., Water Resources Engineering and Management, and Ph.D., Civil and Environmental Engineering, all from the University of Stuttgart, Germany. He also has post-doctoral research experience in ecological engineering from the University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa.
Stephen is a multi/inter-disciplinary civil, ecological and environmental engineer/scientist who integrates civil, environmental, and ecological sciences and engineering, to solve problems and challenges in climate change, water resources, and the environment as a whole.

Dr. Stephen Oppong Kwakye is a vibrant member of the Ghana Institution of Engineers (MGhIE), European Geosciences Union (EGU) and International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research (IAHR).
He is currently a research fellow at the Regional Water and Environmental Sanitation Centre, Kumasi (RWESCK) at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
And he is also a Mentor for the PhD students at the West African Science Service Centre on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL) at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
He is currently a Reviewer and Assessor for the German Academic Exchange Services (DAAD) in-Country/In-Region Scholarship programmes and a reviewer for the Journal of Water and Climate Change.
Stephen is also currently rendering consulting services for the Ghana Water Company Limited on the Update of Urban Water Supply Master Plan for Greater Kumasi Metropolitan Area (GKMA) including the Preparation of a Calibrated Hydraulic Network Model and Integrated Water Distribution Network under World Bank funding
He has strong linkages with local and international partners such as the Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA) in Ghana, the Ghana Water Company Limited, German Academic Exchange Services (DAAD), German Development Agency (GIZ), African Climate and Development Initiative (ACDI) at the University of Cape-Town in South Africa, and the Centre for Water Resources Research (CWRR) at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa.
