PROFILE OF DR. MICHAEL BOATENG
Dr Michael Boateng is an Associate Professor of Animal Nutrition with over a decade of teaching and research experience at the Department of Animal Science. He obtained a B.Sc. (Hons) in Agriculture and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Animal Nutrition from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, KNUST, Kumasi, Ghana.
His research interests include the use of agro-industrial byproducts in monogastric diets, enzyme application in non-ruminant feeding, feed evaluation, and direct-fed microbials (probiotics).
He also dabbles in socio-economic analysis of animal production systems. He continues to train commercial pig and poultry farmers on their animals' nutritional and production needs. His current interests include organic and sustainable animal agriculture, and phytogenic feed additives.
Michael has authored and co-authored over 60 publications, comprising 47 peer-reviewed articles in local and international journals plus several edited conference proceedings, technical reports, manuals, and other related articles in animal production.
He is a member of several professional associations, including the West Africa Network on Organic Agriculture Research and Training (WANOART), the Ghana Society of Animal Production GSAP, and the Ghana Animal Science Association (GASA).
