Dr Yaw Oppong Frimpong obtained his B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture, M. Sc and Ph.D. in Animal Nutrition from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). Prior to his appointment as a lecturer at the Department of Animal Science, KNUST, he worked as an Assistant Lecturer (August 2018 to December 2019) and Lecturer (January to August 2019) at the Department of Animal Production and Health, University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), Ghana.
His research interests include finding natural and sustainable alternatives to antimicrobial growth promoting substances in animal feeding, relationship between nutrition and zoonotic diseases, using edible insects as alternative protein sources in animal nutrition, organic animal production and the use of non-conventional feed resources as ingredients in monogastric livestock feeding.
Dr Frimpong has authored and co-authored over 40 peer-reviewed articles and has been a reviewer for several journals including Open Agriculture De Gruyter, International Journal of Fisheries and Aquaculture and African Journal of Biotechnology.
