Dr. Levina Nyameye Abunya is a Lecturer in the Department of Language and Communication Sciences at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. She received her BA (Linguistics and Philosophy), MPhil (Linguistics), and Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of Ghana.
She is passionate about teaching because she loves the constant human interaction and the satisfaction that comes from transferring knowledge. She has taught courses in core linguistics, applied linguistics, and business communication.Her research interests are primarily focused on syntax, morphology, descriptive linquistics, language and literacy education, language acquisition and language documentation. In her linguistics research, she has worked extensively on the aspects of the grammar of Kaakye, a North Guan (Kwa Niger-Congo) language spoken mainly in the Oti Region of Ghana. She is currently a board member of Working Institute of Simple English Linguistics (WISEL) and KaaKye Language Project (KALAP). She is also a member of the Linguistics Association of Ghana (LAG) and of the Association of Contemporary African Linguistics (ACAL)
Dr. Abunya is a proud recipient of two research grant awards: the University of Ghana Carnegie Corporation of New York "Next Generation of Academics in Africa project -Rearch grant to support PhD research (2016), and the 9th KNUST Research Fund (9th KReF)-Multidisciplinary Award.
