Profile
Prof. Abdul-Rahman Ahmed is an Associate Professor of Telecommunication Engineering at KNUST, Ghana, with over 15 years of experience in Academic research covering digital infrastructure, AI applications, wireless systems, and ICT policy strategy. He has led research on AI-driven models for UAV security, blockchain-based IIoT systems, and RF technologies, with over 30 peer-reviewed publications and 350+ citations.
He has provided technical advisory to then Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, MESTI ( on digital innovation), and the Ministry of Communication and Digitalization (review of Ghana’s National Space Policy). He also served as a technical expert on STEM policy and higher education frameworks for Ministry of Education and its agencies (National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA), National Teaching Council (NTC), and Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC)).
At KNUST, he served as Dean of the Faculty of Electrical & Computer Engineering (2020–2023), Vice Dean, and currently Head of Telecommunication Engineering Department, contributing to institutional strategy and research leadership. He has also fostered international collaborations with Google, Intel, Arm Ltd., and Rohde & Schwarz, strengthening Africa’s digital innovation ecosystem.
