Areas of Research Interest
Dr George Dakurah’s research focuses on climate change, food systems, and rural livelihoods in Sub-Saharan Africa, with a strong interdisciplinary and socio-cultural perspective. His work examines climate variability and smallholder farmers’ perceptions and responses to climate change, particularly in relation to adaptation and agricultural decision-making.
He is also interested in food security and agricultural systems, exploring how climate stressors, indigenous knowledge, and cultural practices shape farming choices and livelihood resilience. A key strand of his work focuses on the cultural dimensions of food systems, including the symbolic and social significance of food in rural communities.
In addition, his research addresses food insecurity and wellbeing, including the links between food access, mental health, and vulnerability. He also works on environmental governance and climate policy, with a growing focus on nature-based solutions (NbS) as pathways for strengthening climate resilience and promoting sustainable development.
