Research Areas/Interests

With a broad background in Entomology and expertise in vector biology, my research endeavours have spanned various areas of infectious diseases and agriculture.

My role in managing and coordinating various entomological and parasitological studies has been instrumental. This include conducting studies on ticks and mosquito-borne bacterial and viral disease risks to public health in Kumasi. Also, I have explored the use of novice biological interventions for vector control. This comprises of the use of noni, basil and moringa oil extracts.

My research also includes the assessment of malaria and anaemia prevalence, and the population of bedbug among school pupils and senior high students before and after the application of vector control measures. Vector susceptibility to commonly used insecticides have also been carried out in mosquitoes, bedbugs and ticks.

In the field of agriculture, my research has focused on exploiting black soldier flies and house flies for sustainable crop production and as source of protein and fats in livestock feeding. As a result, empirical evidence has been obtained as to the comparability of the produced frass to the commercial fertilizers and the use of these insects as high-protein and fats feed sources for livestock.

I have and continue to be involved in multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary studies with self funding and sponsorship from prestigious funders including the Syngenta Crop Protection AGUnited States Naval Medical Research Unit EURAFCENT, APARET (African Programme for Advanced Research Epidemiology Training), No Mo Foundation, KNUST Research Fund (KReF), and the The Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation (MESTI). With such funds, I have been a Lead Investigator, Co-investigator or Project Coordinator on studies that have impacted society and enhanced the visibility of KNUST.
