Dr. Derrick Adu Mensah is a Senior Clinical/Medical Research Scientist, working currently as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow and the Field Coordinator on the Filariasis Research Project at the Kumasi Center for Collaborative Research in Tropical Medicine (KCCR), Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi. In aiming to become a health advocate and a clinical/medical research scientist with a global impact, my research focuses on clinical diagnostics, Molecular biology, Clinical cytology, Epidemiology, Immunology and host Immune responses to infections, immunopathogenesis, prevention and control of infectious diseases, and Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) such as Lymphatic filariasis, Onchocerciasis, and Soil-transmitted helminthiasis (STHs).
Dr Derrick Adu Mensah has participated in a number of clinical trials and other observational studies carried out by the Filariasis Project in KCCR- in collaboration with our research partners in Germany, Tanzania, and Cameroon. This has maximized his research capacity in the process.
As an early career clinical research scientist, Dr. Derrick Adu Mensah's objective is to achieve excellence in academia and clinical research through teaching and conduct of high-quality research with a global impact which will also improve our overall health.
