Profile
I, Williams Owusu Darko, was born on November 29, 1997, in Ghana. From an early age, I exhibited a strong curiosity for technology, problem-solving, and leadership. This passion guided my academic and professional journey, leading me to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where I graduated in 2022.
My educational background expanded beyond engineering, as I acquired multiple IT certifications, including the Google IT Support Professional Certificate, an Introduction to Computer Information Systems from the University of California, Irvine, and a Safety in the Utility Industry course from the University of Buffalo, State University of New York. These certifications strengthened my knowledge in computer hardware, cybersecurity, networking, and software applications, making me a versatile professional in both the IT and engineering fields.
Throughout my academic journey, I actively took on leadership roles. I served as the Deputy Sports Chairman for the Materials Engineering Department at KNUST (2020-2021), Technical Head for the Deeper Life Bible Church (Nkawie Youth Section) (2014-2018), and Prayer Secretary at Tepa Senior High School (2015-2016). These experiences shaped my skills in teamwork, time management, and decision-making, which have been instrumental in my professional growth.
In terms of work experience, I have honed my skills in various industries. Currently, I work as a Contract Senior ICT Assistant at the Graduate School, KNUST, and also offer freelance services on Upwork. My background in computer hardware repair and IT support extends to Paa Willie Computer and Laptop Repair Services, a business I have operated since 2016. Additionally, I have worked as a Computer Hardware Specialist at UITS, KNUST (2022-2023), a Special Mechanics Assistant (2019-2021), a building construction worker (2018-2019), and a storekeeper (2012-2017). My entrepreneurial spirit also led me to venture into catfish farming, which I currently manage alongside my IT-related roles.
Recognizing my impact on campus, I was honored with the Male Most Popular Student with Purpose Award (2022) in the Materials Engineering Department at KNUST. This recognition reaffirmed my commitment to making meaningful contributions in any environment I find myself in.
Beyond academics and work, I am passionate about learning new technologies and exploring different cultures and traditions. My ability to speak both English and Twi allows me to connect with people from diverse backgrounds.
As I look forward to future opportunities, my goal remains steadfast: to work in a challenging environment that allows me to utilize my skills, expand my knowledge, and contribute to global technological advancements.
