Osei Yaw Akoto possesses strong and diverse competencies in research methodology and analytical skills, honed through years of rigorous academic training, teaching, supervision, and research in corpus linguistics, English for Academic Purposes (EAP), and onomastics. His academic trajectory reflects a sustained commitment to empirical inquiry and linguistic description, combining both quantitative and qualitative approaches to the study of language use and discourse.

He has published several scholarly papers in reputable journals such as Onoma, International Journal of Multilingualism, Corpus Pragmatics, Linguistic Landscape, and the Ghana Journal of Linguistics—many of which are indexed in Scopus and Web of Science—attesting to his growing scholarly impact in the field of applied linguistics.

His current research focuses on metadiscourse in postgraduate theses, examining how writers construct stance, engagement, and argumentation across disciplinary boundaries. In addition, his broader academic interests span English for Academic and Specific Purposes (EAP/ESP), onomastics, Linguistic Landscape, and corpus-based discourse analysis. He remains open to exploring new research frontiers within English Linguistics, especially those that integrate linguistic theory, discourse studies, and pedagogical applications.

He currently serves as the Organizing Secretary of the Linguistics Association of Ghana and is the Founding President of the Ghana Names Society. Through his continuous research, professional service, and scholarly engagement, Osei Yaw Akoto demonstrates an enduring commitment to advancing linguistic scholarship and fostering effective academic communication practices within higher education and beyond.
