Achievements

2020 – Date – Revamping the KNUST VoIP Infrastructure

VoIP coordinator overseeing project initiative of the Vice Chancellor to revamp the KNUST VoIP infrastructure to cut down on telephone bills and improve collaborative channels among university stakeholders, administrators, and officers.

 

2020 – Date – Relocation of the KNUST Data Centre

Project Coordinator to setup a new Data Centre for KNUST to enhance digitisation and access to university services in the Post-pandemic Era

 

2020 – Setting Up the Pilot ICT Infrastructure and Services for University of Environmental and Sustainable Development (UESD), Somanya

UESD, a recently christened university, needed an operational and cost-effective network infrastructure set up quickly before the first academic year in 2021, which will be the basis of further development of the university’s ICT ecosystem in the future.

As the ICT Consultant, I supervised the design and implementation of ICT projects worth about USD 1 million to set up an operational campus network infrastructure, integration of information systems, university websites, essential network services, and UESD’s Internet domain.

 

2018 – Date – VoIP infrastructure for the Ghanaian Academic and Research Network (GARNET)

Deployment of private VoIP platform for GARNET members via GARNET WAN network:

  • Setting up VoIP PBX servers (Asterisk/Issabel, Grandstream, Yeastar, etc.) for various universities, including KNUST, UCC, GIMPA, UPSA, UEW, UENR, GIJ, and UESD
  • Configuration of SIP/IAX trunk links from university PBX servers to GARNET VoIP server at KNUST Data Centre
  • Development of GARNET VoIP directory for inter-campus VoIP communications

 

2019 – 2020 – ICT Infrastructure for Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ)

GIJ needed a strong ICT setup for their new campus at Dzorwulu, Accra. I managed ICT projects worth over GHC 10 million, as the ICT Consultant, to set up a Tier-2 Data Centre at the new campus, together with a campus local area network supporting over 200 network points, 80 Wi-Fi access points, and about 200 CCTV cameras, access control systems, and audio-visual equipment, and a VoIP infrastructure.

 

2018 – Date – Highly Available ICT Infrastructure and Services for University of Cape Coast (UCC)

Overseeing ICT projects worth over GHC 30 million, as the ICT Consultant, to achieve a highly digitised campus, including the set-up of a Tier-2 Data Centre and redundant core network, Campus Network Infrastructure Upgrade, Campus CCTV and Access Control Projects, and digital learning facilities (Smart Classrooms, E-learning Studios, Videoconferencing and telepresence systems), and integration of information systems and essential network services.

 

2018 – 2019 – Data Centre for Koforidua Technical University (KTU)

Overseeing a GHC 5-million project to design and build a Tier-2 Data Centre and ICT Support Centre for KTU.

 

2016 – The First IP-based Campus CCTV System for KNUST 

Overseeing the campus IP-based CCTV project for KNUST traditional halls and GUSSS hostels, selected intersections, and setting up the CCTV Control Room for KNUST Security Services.

 

2016 – Date – GARNET/WACREN Wide Area Network for Academic and Research

One of GARNET Infrastructure Team Leads that designed and approved Ghana's National Research and Education Network (GARNET/WACREN) network.

 

2006 – The pilot CCTV System in KNUST - the first CCTV system in any University in Ghana

The first CCTV surveillance system on KNUST campus, set up at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Department of Chemistry, and Biological Sciences.

 

2004 – 2006 - The Main ICT Centre for KNUST

Setting up the Largest ICT Centre in any Public University in Ghana at the time (i.e., KNUST ICT Centre located in the Library)

 

2000 – 2002 – Hewlett Packard Digital Village Project

An award to a joint proposal of the KNUST and University of Pennsylvania, 1-million-dollar project to set up the KNUST optical infrastructure (which is still in operations to date), and kickstart the Network Operations Centre (NOC) and Computers at Library, Pharmacy, and Planning Unit

 

2001 – First Commercial ICT Cafe for KNUST Students 

The SRC/CARRERA ICT Centre at commercial area was the first commercial ICT cafe for KNUST students - a joint venture between SRC, CARERRA Ltd., and University Management
