Profile of Prof. Eric Appau Asante

Prof. Eric Appau Asante, born at Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region of Ghana is an Associate Professor of Educational Innovations.

He is the Director of e-Learning at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and its affiliate institutions and campuses in Ghana.

Asante is the 2023 Star Ambassador of the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) and Project Lead for Partnership for Enhanced and Blended Learning for KNUST. 

Staff and Educational Development Association accredited him as Certified Blended Learning Expert in March 2023 under the auspices of Association of Commonwealth Universities.

He is a certified trainer of Master Class Foundations for Excellence in Teaching (eLearning). He is an e-Learning champion classified by the Master Card Foundation's e-Learning Initiative and a Member of the Master Card eLearning Initiative project team at KNUST. He is a former Head of the Department of Educational Innovations in Science and Technology.

He served as the Program Coordinator for Master of Education and Postgraduate Educational Innovations and Leadership Science, for KNUST. He received his PhD degree from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, Ghana.  Prof. Eric Appau Asante also received his B.A. degree from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana.

He Holds Master's degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Education, Winneba in Ghana. He also obtained his Post-graduate Diploma in General Education from the University of Education, Winneba. He holds a scholar's Certificate in Instructional Design and Performance improvement from Arizona State University USA, and Certificate in Online Design, Teaching, and Learning.

Asante is a proud recipient of the Getty Foundations Scholars award in the year 2014 and A recipient of the SEDA Named Award in Supporting Technology Enhanced Learning (STEL) presented by the Association of Commonwealth Universities and the Staff and Educational Development Association (SEDA)

 

He currently teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in Curriculum Studies, Foundations of Education, Differentiated Planning, Learning and Multimedia Development and Inclusive school based Inquiry.

Prof. Asante has a reputation as a Teacher Educationist, art Aesthetician/ researcher/ and teacher with outstanding record of publications including scholarly articles, essays, and numerous professional research presentations. His praxis is rooted in engaged- teaching; one that produces learners with transformational agenda. He served as a Board Member for the Institute of Distance Learning, KNUST and a regular reviewer of several research and conference papers.
