Profile

Paul Okyere, Ph.D., is a Senior Lecturer and Public Health Promotion researcher in the Department of Health Promotion and Disability Studies,  School of Public Health, KNUST. Dr. Okyere has been involved in several research projects including one that involved studying the prevalence of Alzheimer's disease and related dementia (ADRD) in the Ashanti and Greater Accra regions and also documenting the experiences of caregivers of patients with dementia. Additionally, Dr. Okyere was part of the research team assessing the dynamics of healthcare utilization in the context of the introduction of the malaria vaccine (RTS, S), a three-year longitudinal study in the Volta region, Central region, and hitherto Brong Ahafo region.  His research interests include injury prevention and safety promotion, social determinants of health, malaria, Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH), and health-related behaviors. Dr. Okyere is a member of the International Union for Health Promotion and Education (IUHPE) and the International Society of Global Health (ISoGH). Dr. Okyere has consulted for the Health Promotion Division of the Ghana Health Service, Communicate for Health (C4H), Sinapi Aba Trust, and the Allied Health Professions Council in Ghana in a number of roles. He has several scientific publications in reputable journals including the Health Promotion International, Journal of the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care, Journal of Community Health, and American Journal of Health Promotion to his credit.
