Profile
As a practising Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and a lecturer, I bring on board the practical clinical experience spanning normal presentations to difficult clinical situations for teaching. Beyond didactic lectures, most of my teaching load has been bedside teaching which brings into sharp focus how theory or material from lectures apply to clinical problems to be solved. My teaching schedule has Tutorials where I facilitate moving lecture material from Level 1 of Bloom Taxonomy to higher Levels for deeper learning.
Having followed a 2-year Medical Education MSc programme sponsored by University of Swansea (and hosted in University of Ibadan), I bring considerable knowledge and experience in Curriculum content and development, methods of instructions and assessment.
For the thirteen years of teaching, I have added to my toolbox new set of teaching knowledge or skill in Medical Education through personal devleopment activities. I have extensive knowledge and experience in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in Ghana, having served as Chairman of the CPD Committee of the Ghana Medical Association) over the last 12 years. In this capacity, I have been involved in the organization of several CPD meetings for physicians and other cadre of health staff.
In conclusion, I hold the philosophy that Learning is ultimately to serve societal good and it should develop learners sufficiently to solve the problems in their setting.
