Research Areas/Interests
Professor Mutocheluh's research group focuses on translational research related to microbial pathogens and immunity to microbial diseases, with particular interest in human oncogenic viruses, mycotoxins, anti-viral & anti-cancer agents. The group's current projects include but not limited to the following: (1) Understanding the anti-viral and anti-cancer properties of cryptolepis sanguinolenta; (2) Transforming chronic hepatitis B virus treatment by developing novel targeted immunotherapy based on a fundamental understanding of the virus immunobiology and (3) identifying small molecules of herbal origin for antiviral and anti-cancer therapy
Currently, Prof. Mutocheluh coordinates the KNC19 Clinical trials. The KNC19 project seeks to test the efficacy of a Ghanaian herbal preparation (Cryptolepis sanguinolenta) on Covid-19 therapy.
