Lecturer | Data Analyst | Occupational and Environmental Health & Safety Specialist

Dr. Philip Apraku Tawiah is a Lecturer, Data Analyst, and Public Health Researcher with expertise in occupational and environmental health and safety. He holds a PhD in Public Health from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where his research explored occupational health hazards among healthcare workers. He also earned a Master of Public Health (MPH) from the University of Ghana and a Bachelor of Science in Laboratory Technology from the University of Cape Coast.

As a lecturer at the School of Public Health, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Dr. Apraku Tawiah teaches occupational and environmental health and safety courses and mentors future public health professionals. Previously, he was a Laboratory Technologist at the University of Health and Allied Sciences, playing a key role in laboratory management and hands-on student training.

Dr. Apraku Tawiah’s research addresses key public health issues, including workplace safety, infectious disease prevention, musculoskeletal disorders, and employee retention. His findings contribute to evidence-based policies and interventions aimed at improving worker well-being. He is a prolific author in high-impact journals, serves as an editor and peer reviewer for international publications, and is proficient in both quantitative and qualitative research methods. His work drives impactful research, policy development, and practice, aiming to bridge the gap between research and practice to promote healthier workplaces, communities, and societies. Some of his technical skills include statistical analysis with STATA, conducting scoping reviews, and the development of digital data collection tools.

Beyond academia, Dr. Apraku Tawiah actively engages with professional bodies such as the Ghana Research Ethics Consortium and Solidage Africa Foundation. He also participates in public health outreach initiatives, translating research into practical solutions for community health.
