Mona Lisa Frimpong is a Multiple Award Winning Broadcast Journalist and Communications Professional with over ten years of experience in journalism and public relations.
She reports on gender, human rights, business, and the environment.
Her work focuses on gender-based violence, LGBTQ+ , sex workers, persons living with HIV, and other key populations. Through her reporting, she gives voice to groups that are often excluded from policy and public debate.
She was a fellow of the Media Foundation for West Africa’s Gender Reporting Fellowship and also a fellow of the Clean Air Reporting Fellowship.
In April 2025, she placed third in the Multimedia Category of the Merck Foundation Awards Africa.
In May 2024, she was named Second Best Reporter at the Inclusive and Anti-Conflict Journalism Awards by the Media Platform on Environment and Climate Change.
In July 2024, she was recognised by the Department of Planning, KNUST, for her work in development journalism.
Mona Lisa has served as Head of the Business Desk at Multimedia Group Limited, Kumasi Business Unit.
She worked as a News Anchor, Reporter, and Voice Over Actor at Joy News and Luv 99.5 FM.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Development Planning and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Development Management.
In public relations, Mona Lisa works as a Senior Administrative Assistant responsible for communications at the KNUST E-Learning Centre.
She manages communications and social media for the Department of Computer Engineering at KNUST.
She produces audio-visual features and reports with a focus on gender and social development.
Mona Lisa Frimpong is a member of the Ghana Journalists Association, Alliance for Women in Media Africa, network of Administrative Professionals and Women in Public Relations – Ghana.
