Profile

Emmanuel Mfum-Mensah is currently with the Software Development Division of the University Information Technology Services(UITS) in the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology(KNUST) as Head, Data Analytics.  Previously as Head, Application Development, in partnership with his colleagues, they develop, manage and maintain critical Management Information Systems(MIS) for KNUST.  His area of proficiency is computer programming with C#, database architect with ER Studio,relational database development and management with MS SQL Server and many more. Currently a Phd Applied Mathematics candidate at the Department of Mathematics KNUST, he holds an MPhil in Applied Mathematics and a BSc in Mathematics from the same institution. The academic areas of research of interest to him include mathematical and computational optimization, computational geometry, computational origami and scientific computing.

As Head of Data Analytics, he is responsible for the following:

 

  1. Leverage data and artificial intelligence to provide intelligent services and applications that offer actionable information for innovative and well-informed corporate decisions. Key practices include Machine Learning (ML), recommender systems, data mining, and business intelligence.
  • Application database Manager: Database administrator, engineer, scientist and analyst
  • Data Collection & Integration: Aggregate structured (SQL databases) and unstructured data (text, images) from ERP, CRM, and IoT systems
  • Data Quality and Cleansing: Detect anomalies, missing values, and duplicates and address them in the database.
  • Exploratory Data Analysis: Conduct descriptive and diagnostic analytics
  • Confirmatory Data Analysis: Conduct predictive and prescriptive analytics
  • Cognitive Data Analysis: Lead development of cognitive products to implement AI-powered automation.
  • Model Training, deployment and implementation
  • Personalize user experiences with AI-driven suggestion: Work with the LMS team to implement collaborative filtering, content-based filtering and hybrid models
  1. Development of business intelligence dashboards and statistical/ML modelling  
  • Pattern Discovery: Project to discover patters with respect to various organizational business processes.
  • BI Dashboards: Build Power BI dashboards for executive reporting at departmental, faculty, college and institutional level.
  • Natural Language Processing (NLP): Sentiment analysis on various feedbacks
  • Data driven Application management that promotes optimum updates and upgrades
  • Data-Driven Update Strategy: Working to other sections and divisions to implement performance monitoring of various systems (soft and hard), conduct user behavior analysis, and other kinds of analysis whose output can inform development and management of systems for improved services.
  • Champion AI-assisted application development
  • Data-driven application development integrates data analytics, user feedback, and real-time metrics into every phase of the software lifecycle—from design to deployment—to build applications that are intelligent, adaptive, and high-impact.
