Benjamin Boampong Owusu was appointed Assistant Registrar and assumed duty in the Registrar’s Office on April 01. 2010.  After a brief orientation, he was posted to the College of Engineering and assumed duty on August 02, 2010 as Assistant College Registrar.  Among his responsibilities in the College of Engineering were:

  1. Daily Routine Administrative Duties –
  1. Responding to students’ complaints and forwarding them to the appropriate office for redress;
  2. Responsible for equipment and vehicles of the College
  3. Attending to correspondence from students, where necessary;
  4. Receiving and attending to persons who visit the office to make enquiries;
  5. Receiving and attending to visitors on behalf of the College Registrar/ Provost;
  6. Organizing workshops, seminars and meeting;
  7. Supervising and giving direction to Senior and Junior staff as well as National Service Personnel of the College;
  8. Supervising municipal work at the College;
  9. Assisting College Registrar to service the College Board;
  10. Assisting the College Registrar to serve on the Finance Committee of the College; and
  11. Attending to staff needs, where necessary.

 

  1. Academic Duties

As an Assistant Registrar responsible for Student Affairs of the College, the following roles were played:

  1. Organizing matriculation for newly admitted Students at the College of Engineering;
  2. Organizing orientation for newly admitted students of the College;
  3. Organizing career workshop for the students;
  4. Verifying and authenticating certificates and transcripts of the past students of the College for other Institutions;
  5. Liaising with College Examinations Officer and the Estate Officer to prepare and facilitate End of Semester Examinations;
  6. Organizing Career Fairs for the Students; and
  7. Organising “Awards Day” for the benefactors of the College.

 

  • Human Resource Duties-
  1. Keeping database of Newly Appointed Senior Members, Academic, including Adjunct and Visiting Professors;
  2. Assisting the Departments to ensure that other administrative staff come on relieving duty to enable the substantive staff go on annual leave; and
  3. Assisting the College Registrar to serve on the College Appointment and Promotions Sub-Committee.

In March 2015, Mr. Owusu was transferred to the Institute of Distance Learning (IDL) as Assistant Registrar to support a colleague Assistant Registrar in the discharge of duties due to increase in student population.

 

In September 2015, he was transferred to the Human Resource Division to serve as Assistant Registrar in-charge Junior Staff Schedule. In August 2017, he was promoted to the position of Senior Assistant Registrar and also made to head the Senior Staff schedule. In March 2018, he was appointed schedule officer for Senior Members in the Human Resource Division and has been on that schedule to date.

 

In the course of his work, Mr. Owusu has served on important Committees and Boards.    Amongst them are University Appointments and Promotions Committee (UAPC), Administration Appointments and Promotions Committee (AAPC), College Board, College Appointments and Promotions Sub-Committee and many other Committee as a Recorder, a Secretary or a Member.

 

Mr. Owusu is a member of Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA).  He is also a member in good standing of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA). 

 

Mr. Owusu is married to Mrs. Lydia Boampong Owusu. The couple is blessed with four boys
