Ms. Efua Arku is a Senior Assistant Registrar in the Vice-Chancellor and Registrar’s Offices at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, Ghana. She was appointed into the service of the University on April 14, 2014. Prior to her transfer to the current office in which she operates, she was the Assistant Registrar in charge of Staff Training and Development at the Human Resources Development Division (HRD) of the Registrar’s Offices in the University. With considerable experience in training and development, office management, event planning and organisation, customer relations, proposal writing and outreach services delivery, Ms. Arku also has facilitating experience, field research experience, and experience from Membership/Secretariaship of Committees and Teams.
She is currently the Chief of Staff to the Vice-Chancellor and serves as the link between the Registrar’s Offices and the Vice-Chancellor’s Office, among other duties. She has been member or secretary to various statutory and non-statutory committees of the University including the Scholarships Committee, Research and Conferences Committee, Planning and Resources Committee, Management Team, and supports the Registrar in performance of his role as Secretary to the University Council and the Office of the Chancellor. In addition to these, Ms. Arku has also served on ad-hoc committees on issues pertaining to staff discipline and affiliations.
In her career at the KNUST, she has also collaborated with other colleagues to advance policy direction in the University through research on administrative issues and writing of memoranda for the attention of the Registrar and relevant statutory bodies of the University.
Ms. Efua Arku is a member of the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA). She is also a member of the British Educational, Leadership and Management Society (BELMAS), U.K and a Fellow of the Independence Hall of the KNUST.
Ms. Arku obtained a Master of Business Administration degree with specialisation in Marketing and Corporate Strategy in 2009 from the KNUST. She also holds a BSc degree in Agriculture from the same University.
Before her appointment to the University as an Assistant Registrar she was the Programmes Manager for a youth development and health focused Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO). She was responsible for coordinating the activities of over eight (8) sub-grantees on various fund supported projects in twenty-three (23) districts in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.
