Profile

  • Dr. iur.; LLM Collins Mbuayang is a Lecturer at the Department of Public Law. He is a Member of the Queen Elizabeth II Hall and Head of the Law Clinic, Faculty of Law, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
  • Before joining KNUST, he was a Research Associate to the Head of Investigations at the Office of the Prosecutor (OTP), International Criminal Court (ICC), and a Legal Intern at Trial Chamber III, French Section at the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia in The Hague, Netherlands. He was a Research Associate during his doctoral research at the Franz von Liszt Institute of International and Comparative Law in Giessen, Germany, under the supervision of Prof. Dr Thilo Marauhn, M.Phil., and a visiting lecturer at Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. He is a Volunteer - Legal Advisory with AsyLex, providing legal assistance to refugees.
  • Collins Mbuayang participated in the Master of Laws program jointly organised by the North-West University in Potchefstroom, South Africa and Justus-Liebig University, which allowed participants to study in both countries and gain experience from their legal education. He obtained an LLM and a PhD from Justus-Liebig University in Giessen, Germany, graduating with magna cum laude under the supervision of Prof. Dr Thilo Marauhn. His doctoral thesis established a link between International Criminal Law and International Human Rights Law, and the monograph published by Eleven International Publishing, now Koninklijke Boom Uitgevers in The Hague, is the first academic piece to demonstrate the link between these two branches of international law.
  • He completed a Diploma Course in International Environmental Law offered by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) in Geneva, Switzerland, obtaining summa cum laude under the supervision of Dr. iur. Lothar Guendling.
  • He obtained a Maîtrise en Droit in Business Law from the University of Yaounde II in SOA and an LLB in Law and Political Science with specialisation in Common Law and Civil Law from the University of Dschang, all in Cameroon.
