Past Research Projects
Evaluation and assessment of the efficacy and potential toxicity/ safety of medicinal plants used traditionally for the treatment of diseases of common occurrence in Ghana and the West African region. Research undertaken over the period (2011-2016) include:
- Protective effects of Terminalia ivorensis on renal and hepatic damage
- Safety assessment on locally used medicinal plants
- Effects of Cryptolepis sangunolents and cryptolepine on reproduction in rodents
- Protective effects of Spathodea campanulata on acetaminophen and carbon tetrachloride induced liver damage in rodents
- Effects of Picralima nitida seed extracts on reproductive and developmental toxicity in rodents
- Effects of Carica papaya leaf extract on fertility and hepatic damamge in rodents
- Anti-inflammatory and antipyretic actions of selected locally used medicinal plants
- Evaluation of potential of the potential of combination therapy of cryptolepine and the artemisinins in the management uncomplicated malaria
