Research Areas/Interests
With my special expertise in Indigenous Leather Art and Technology my research and knowledge development activities centered on:
- Promoting sustainable growth of the indigenous leather industry towards meeting international standards, creating jobs and wealth. I therefore have great interest in promoting standardization of leather, leather artifacts and related materials and products. Most of my research activities focus on finding avenues for sustainable progressive transformation of the indigenous leather industry to meet modern demands, and consequently maximize sustainable socio-economic impact on the living standards of humanity.
- Through research, I am pursuing this agenda by translating indigenous knowledge, philosophies, techniques and skills into modern sense to achieve products that serve modernity right, in terms quality standards, efficiency and aesthetics. I therefore integrate Art concepts and principles in Science and Technology to salvage dying local leather industries towards strengthening their capacity to contribute to national development.
- Also, as an Integrated Artist, I combine leather with locally available materials such as fabric, rattan, bamboo, wood, metal, clay and grasses in making products of all kinds to serve diverse needs of mankind.
- I also research into curriculum development and educational restructuring in Vocation and Technical related areas in Leatherwork, Shoe Making, Fashionable accessories, Fibres and Fabrics, Woodwork and Tourist Art. I am a trainer of trainees in vocational activities for job creation and wealth creation.
