Prof. Sam Newton is an Associate Professor of Global Health and Epidemiology and Acting Dean of the School of Public Health of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, Ghana. He completed his medical education in Medicine and Surgery in 1993 and joined the Kintampo Health Research Centre in June 1996. He completed an MSc in Public Health in Developing Countries at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University of London in 2001 and a PhD in Epidemiology also at the London School in 2007. He joined KNUST in 2012 and has carried out numerous field trials in malaria, iron and vitamin A as well as vaccine trials. He also has an interest in issues on Maternal and Child Health and was the Head of Department of the Department of Occupational and Environmental Health Sciences.
