2016 – 2017

Local Principal investigator to the NIFTY CUP STUDY - Randomized Crossover Trial of the Nifty Feeding Cup and a Medicine cup in preterm infants who have difficulty breastfeeding (‘The Feeding Cup Study) –

 

Involved in the study design and supervised the day-to-day Data Collection and general implementation of the study. Yet to be published, still doing data analyses.

 

 

2018 - 2020

Co Principal Investigator to the Immediate Kangaroo Mother Care (iKMC) Study, a multi-country randomized controlled trial to evaluate the impact of skin-to-skin contact initiated immediately after birth compared to initiation of KMC after stabilization of newborns with a birth weight between 1.0 and 1.8 kg in low income countries on their survival.Commenced November 2017 to run for 3 years.

 

Was Involved in the study design and implementation including the day-to-day implementation at Mother Baby Unit of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. Work closely on a day to day basis with the Research Assistants in recording Data form the study subjects and also closely involved in their clinical care

 

2016 – 2017

Member of a Multi-Disciplinary Team to assess Ghana using the Baby Friendly Country Index, which assesses a nation’s standing in terms of its level of success in supporting breastfeeding.

 

2017 – DATE

Local Co Principal Investigator to The follow-up study to evaluate the impact of continuous KMC initiated immediately after birth compared to KMC initiated after stabilization in newborns with birth weight 1.0 to <1.8 kg on their neurodevelopmental outcomes in low-resource settings.

Study currently ongoing

 

Currently involved in the planning of a new study to evaluate the effect of the BCG Vaccine in preventing Early Infant Death form Neonatal Sepsis and also another Study to evaluate the Determinants of Breastfeeding on Small and Sick Newborns
