What Type of Person Are You?

INTRODUCTION

Many people find the inquiry "what type of person are you?" to be ambiguous since they are unsure of the intended response to provide to the questioner. However, it is a straightforward question that seeks to determine whether the individual is an idiot, a tribesman, or a citizen. Many people are bewildered by these classifications since they only understand the concepts at face value. The majority of people, such as Members of Parliament in the fourth republic of the eighth parliament, exemplified the country's current obstinacy. This group of persons exemplifies the traits of people who could be classified as idiots in the Greek philosophical sense.

The goal of this paper is to describe the three notions proposed by the Greeks in order to affect people's behavior in the Ghanaian society. Five hundred (500) participants were chosen from the university community to participate in the data gathering process using exit sampling. Descriptive analysis of the data collected was done using SPSS.

The distinctive characteristics

Individuals in the three groups have various features that can be seen in their behavior patterns, as follows:

The Idiot

People who do not observe the laws and regulations of the society in which they live are classified as idiots by Greek philosophers. For instance, instead of placing trash in dustbins, these idiots dump garbage all over the place. They drive without respect for traffic laws; when a red light indicates that drivers should halt, the idiot driver blasts by. They park in areas where there are no stopping signs. The knuckleheads are arrogant and have no qualms about insulting politicians, kings and opinion leaders. Idiots in enviable positions misbehave and reject their prestigious status. They misappropriate public treasuries entrusted to them with no regard to the suffering of the people. Idiots perceive no problem with strolling on the grass instead of walking on the lawn's walkways.

The tribesmen

The Greeks use Tribesmen to mean people who look at everything from the point of view of their tribe. Tribesmen believe in a person only if that person is part of their tribe. A tribesman in a leadership position fills available vacant positions with others from his or her tribe and alienates others outside of his own tribe. Why do they behave the way they do? The reason is simple: they trust their own tribesmen. This situation is a common phenomenon among people with a common language understood only by them.

The citizens

These are people who like to do things the right way. They don’t like cheating in examinations. Even where there is no trash bin, a citizen will not throw banana peels or rugs into the streets. According to the Greeks, citizens in government don’t steal public coffers nor misappropriate funds. Instead, they use public funds judiciously. They are compassionate and give to others to promote their wellbeing. Citizens in responsible positions often promote projects for the benefit of society.

Findings

The study shows that as many as 75 percent of people in Ghana are idiots, resulting in the rampant vehicular accidents on our roads as well as the uncontrolled traffic jams in the cities. Mounting refuse damps in the cities are another consequence of the high idiot population in the country. Using the Greek conceptions and evidence from the study, only roughly 15% of Ghana's population are citizens, and 10 percent are tribesmen.

Recommendations and conclusion

The study shows that it is ridiculous to elect people who are idiots to hold positions in high offices in the country. Idiots in parliament, for example, will fight instead of analyzing and developing good policies for the benefit of society. The study recommends that the electorate should study the background of candidates before voting for them.

According to the study, poverty in Ghana is driven by a large number of idiots rather than a lack of resources. It recommends that the country's tribesmen be given extensive orientation in order for them to become citizens. In the same way, idiots should be given proper training in order to become citizens. The study concludes that inasmuch as idiots are more than tribesmen and citizens in the country, Ghana will remain in abject poverty till thy kingdom come.
