As a veterinarian it is my utmost passion to see the alleviation of animal suffering and how the knowledge accumulated in my field of science be applied in human medicine. I am intrigued by host defences and the mechanisms utilised by pathogens to evade or deregulate the immune response. With the glaring consequences of the global antimicrobial resistance crisis, vaccines and immunotherapy has caught the attention of many scientist, including mine. I wish to devote scientific life to the field of immunology, immunotherapy and vaccine development. It is my earnest hope that this will set me up to become an authority in this field of research and contribute significantly to solving the many problems posed by diseases in both humans and animals
