Profile

A fellow of the Association Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA U.K) and an alumnus of the University of Huddersfield, London South Bank University, and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Felix Obeng Boateng is currently the Finance Officer of the Insititute of Distance Learning (IDL). He has over 16 years of post-qualification experience, over a decade of it is in the financial administration of the University. On part-time basis, Felix has been offering lecturing service to some postgraduate courses at the Institute of Distance Learning (IDL), KNUST, since 2009.

Prior to his transfer to the Insititute of Distance Learning (IDL) as the Finance Officer of the Institute, Felix was the Head of Payroll, the Accountant responsible for the management of the university payroll system upon his appointment by the University in 2010. Upon the successful completion of mapping of the salaries and the subsequent migration of the university staff payroll on to the Single Spine Salary Structure, he was transferred to act as the Finance Officer for the College of Science and College of Health Sciences in 2014 and 2018, respectively.

Currently, Felix is the Chairman of the Committee responsible for the compilation of all assets of the University to facilitate the implementation of the International Public Sector Accounting (IPSAS). He also chairs the Committee charged with the mandate of drafting for the approval of Council, the Non-Current Asset Replacement Policy of the University. Further, he frequently serves on some important committees within the University. These committees include the Re-Constituted KNUST Project Steering Committee, Tender Evaluation Committee, Disciplinary Committees, Central University Fee Setting Committee, KNUST Loans Committee, Senior Members' Condition of Service Review Committee, KNUST Accounting Manual Development Committee, Institute Board, College Boards, College Management Committees, Biennial International Scientific Conference, and others.

As a means of providing service to the community outside the University, Felix is currently the Audit Committee Chairman for Juaben Government Hospital in Ashanti Region. He has further held membership to some committees and governing boards outside of the University. These include the Governing Board of St. Ambrose College of Education, Church of Christ Mission Hospital, Bomso, Chairman, Parents Teachers Association, Ridge School, Kumasi, and many more. He also served as the Technical Advisor to the Council Sub-Committee of Kumasi Polytechnic that evaluated and recommended for the second-term appointment of both the Director of Finance and Director of Internal Audit in 2015.

Besides the Association Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA U.K) fellowship, Felix also holds membership with the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana (ICAG), and a married Christian with three children.
