Professor Tony Opoku-Agyemang studied in the B.Sc. Biological Sciences programme at the University of Science and Technology (UST), Kumasi from 1982-1985. He obtained his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Moscow Veterinary Academy in 1991. He did graduate studies in Anatomy and obtained a PhD in Biological Sciences (Oncology, Pathology and Morphology) from the Moscow State Academy of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology. He has a Certificate in Management of People in Organizations from the American Institute of Business and Economics, Moscow, Russian Federation.

He has several years’ experience in different positions as Veterinary Surgeon, Veterinary Medical and Public Health Consultant, Lecturer and Researcher with various institutions and organisations including the Moscow State Academy of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology, Falcon Sales and Commerce Limited, Nano-Bio Research Centre, RPSi/Zaimka Hunting Lodge, Moscow, Russian Federation.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang currently works for the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana, which he joined in 2009 as a lecturer in Gross Anatomy and Histology. He was promoted to Senior Lecturer in Anatomy and Histology in 2016 and was appointed on promotion in August 2020 to Associate Professor of Comparative Anatomy in the Department of Anatomy and Physiology, School of Veterinary Medicine KNUST. He is currently the Head of the Department of Anatomy and Physiology, Coordinator of Research and Vice-Dean of the School of Veterinary Medicine. 

He is also an Academic Tutor, Patron of the Ghana Veterinary Medical Students’ Association (KNUST) and Academic Member in charge of students’ welfare of the KNUST School of Veterinary Medicine.

He has served as external examiner for the School of Veterinary Medicine, College of Basic and Applied Sciences, University of Ghana, Legon, Accra, for the periods 2016-2017, 2018-19 and for the Department of Animal Science, Faculty of Agriculture, University for Development Studies, in 2016-2017.

He is a reviewer of scientific journals including Tropical Animal Health and Production and Heliyon-Elsevier Journal.

He is a member of the Ghana Veterinary Medical Association, Commonwealth Veterinary Medical Association, Ghana Science Association, Anatomical Society of Ghana, Russian Association of Practising Veterinary Surgeons, All-Russian Scientific Society of Anatomists, Histologists and Embryologists (RSSAHE) and Breast Care International.
