Charles Nsiah is a determined individual with interdisciplinary knowledge. Charles has over 18years’ worth of professional experience in accounting and financial management. He completed his professional accountancy qualification (ACCA) in 2007 and has been a fellow member of the ACCA since 2012. He has been a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG) since 2012. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Business and Management (Accounting Option) from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi (KNUST); an MBA in Financial Management from the University of Exeter, UK; and a first-class honours Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Finance from London South Bank University.
Charles has extensive experience in public sector accounting and financial management, including the preparation of financial statements under IPSAS, the design and implementation of financial controls in line with the Public Financial Management Act, budget preparation and monitoring, project financial management, staff management, and system improvement. Charles played a key role in the first-time adoption of IPSAS by KNUST in 2019 and led a team in revising the KNUST Accounting Policies and Procedures Manual to ensure compliance with IPSAS.
He has been a full-time staff member of KNUST since 2010 and has held various positions within the University, including Head of Payables, Ag. College Finance Officer – College of Engineering, Ag. College Finance Officer – College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Institute Finance Officer- Institute of Distance Learning, and currently Deputy Finance Officer and the College Finance Officer for the College of Health Sciences. Aside from full-time accounting work at KNUST, Charles developed an MSc in Industrial Finance and Investment. A demand-driven programme that has run successfully at KNUST-IDL since 2012. Charles has been offering lecturing services on a part-time basis at the postgraduate level at the Institute of Distance Learning (IDL), KNUST, since 2012 and has supervised several MSc/MBA theses.
Currently, Charles Nsiah serves as the Finance Officer (Director of Finance) at KNUST.
