Studies on Antisickling Effects of Griffonin

Abstract

Results obtained from in vitro hematological studies show that griffonin causes sickled red blood cells to revert to the normal shape. The antisickling effect of griffonin was dose-and time-dependent. There was no difference between the antisickling effect of griffonin on red blood cells containing the various types Otabuormal hemoglobin, namely, hemoglobin SS SC. On weight basis' griffonin was, more potent antisickling agent than urea.
