Mrs. Olivia Ayensu is a distinguished education professional whose career, spanning since 2006, is a testament to her dedication to teaching, student counselling, and educational leadership. She is currently the Deputy Head, KNUST Preschool (November 01, 2025). Born on 19th July, her own academic foundation was laid at Holy Child School in Cape Coast, where she completed her secondary education in 1997.
Her pursuit of knowledge led her to earn a Bachelor of Arts in English and French from the University of Ghana in May 2004, preceded by a Certificate in French Studies from the Université d'Abomey Calavy in Benin in June 2003. She further expanded her expertise with an MBA in Human Resource Management from the University of Wales, UK, in April 2014. A growing passion for education prompted her to secure a Post Graduate Diploma in Education from the University of Cape Coast in September 2015, culminating in an MPhil in Guidance and Counselling from the same institution in September 2023.
Mrs. Ayensu's professional journey is deeply rooted in the KNUST Basic School, where she began as a Senior Teacher of French in September 2006. She advanced to Principal Teacher in September 2014 and now holds the role of Chief Teacher of French, a position she has excelled in since January 2020.
Her leadership within the school community is profound. She served as a dedicated Class Teacher from 2006 to 2024, a role in which her innovative efforts led her class to be awarded "Best Class" in 2023. Her strategic contributions were also recognized when she was selected as a member of the school's strategic leadership team from 2014 to 2017. More recently, in January 2022, she was appointed Chairperson of the Clubs and Associations Committee, where she spearheaded the formation of over 15 new clubs.
As a founding member of the KNUST JHS Counselling Committee since 2016, she has been pivotal in providing pastoral care. Her commitment to professional growth is ongoing, as seen in her participation in the Skilled Helper Program in 2022, Social and Emotional Learning training in May 2023, and Trauma Healing training as recently as September 2024.
Her influence extends beyond the school gates. She served as a School Governor in the United Kingdom from 2011 to 2013 and as a Regional Trainer for the Ghana Statistical Service in 2021. Demonstrating her cross-cultural competency, she provided counselling services to international students at China Pharmaceutical University from 2024 to 2025.
A certified member of the Ghana National Association of Certified Counsellors and the National Teaching Council, Mrs. Ayensu's life and work, enriched by decades of faith-based volunteering, reflect a profound commitment to nurturing future generations, making her a respected leader and a compassionate force for good in her community.
