Gladys Abla Addai (Mrs) also known as Gladys Afagbegee was born in 1970 at Accra New Town, but hails from Denu in the Ketu South District of the Volta Region.

Gladys is the last child of seven children born to Mr & Mrs William Quashie Afagbegee all of blessed memory. She started her pre-school at age 4 at Mammy Ocansey Day Nursery in Accra and continue at the Accra New Town (ANT) 5 Primary School in 1976. Gladys was transferred to the Roman Catholic Primary School at Kpehe near Carprice where she completed her primary education in 1982. She continued her Elementary education at the same school in 1983 and sat for the Middle School leaving Certificate Examination in 1986.

In 1986/87 Academic year she enrolled at the O’Reilly Senior High School in Adabraka, Accra. She took the General Certificate Examination (GCE) in 1991 and passed with Division One. In 1991, Gladys further her studies at the Labone Senior High also in Accra. She completed the 2-year sixth form programme in 1993 with the award of the Advance Level Certificate.

After her National Service in 1994, she however, enrolled on a 3-year post Teacher Training Programme at the Our Lady of Apostle (OLA) Teacher Training College in Cape Coast. She successfully passed the Part I Examinations in 1996.

In 1996/97 Academic Year, she gained admission into the University of Cape Coast, Cape Coast to read Bachelor of Education in Psychology.  She took all the prescribed courses and was awarded the degree in 1999.

She served as a National Service person at the seat of Government, Osu from 1999 to 2000.

In December, 2000, she was appointed by the Ghana Education Service as a teacher for Tepa Senior High School. She taught for a year.

In January 2002, Gladys was employed by the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) as Senior Administrative Assistant. She got promoted to the rank of Principal Administrative Assistant in 2007 after working for 5-years. Her desire to be effective at her work caused her to enrol on a Master of Business Administration (MBA) Programme in 2005 on Part-Time basis. She successfully completed the programme in two years and was awarded the MBA (Human Resource) option in 2008.

After working for two to gain much experience, she was re-designated as Assistant Registrar in 2010. By dint of hard work and dedication to duty, Gladys got promoted to the position of Senior Assistant Registrar in 2017. A position, she currently holds at the International Programmes Office of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi.
