The Journal of Social Sciences and Policy (JoSSP) is the official journal and scholarly mouthpiece of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. The Journal of Social Sciences and Policy (JoSSP) is an open-access journal that publishes peer-reviewed contributions from across diverse scientific disciplines with cross-cutting social sciences, humanities, and policy themes.

 

Aim, Mission and Scope of the Journal

Journal Aim

The Journal aims at disseminating and advancing research-based knowledge outputs, cutting-edge theory, and practice across and between all aspects of the behavioural, humanities and social sciences and their policy implications. The journal further promotes scholarly exchange among researchers and teachers of all modern languages.

 

Scope and Mission

The mission of the journal is to publish and promote high-quality original articles that make a significant contribution to relevant aspects of social, behavioural Sciences and Humanities and their interconnections between policy and practice. The journal’s scope is open to theoretical, methodological and empirical studies, reviews and position papers anchored on qualitative and/or quantitative research outputs from disciplines and domains including but not limited to: Economics, Geography, History, Political Sciences, Sociology, Social Work, Linguistics, Language and Communication Sciences, Religion, Anthropology, Public Health, Gender and Development, Development Studies, Society and Culture, Tourism and Hospitality, Public Administration, Philosophy, Ethics, Policy Studies, Management Sciences.

The following types of contributions are published by the journal;

  • Peer-reviewed original research articles and critical analytical reviews of relevance to the humanities and social science research. Articles may be made up to a total of 7,000 words with abstracts, tables, figures, references, and the main text included.
  • Policy briefs
  • Systematic and literature reviews, meta–analysis up to 15,000 words. This includes abstracts, tables, figures, references, and the main text.
  • Peer-reviewed short communications and commentaries on published articles of notable public interest between 2000 and 5000 words.
  • Invited or submitted commentaries and responses
  • Special Issues that jointly address a topical issue or theme by way of a collection of papers with guest editors
